Autumn Term
Woodland and Rainforests
This term we will be learning about woodland in the UK including our school woods and tropical rainforests. The children will be learning about the seven continents and five oceans and where in the world rainforests are found. Our English work will include reading & writing based on the Nick Butterworth stories about Percy the Park Keeper, Dear Earth by Isabel Otter and The Tin Forest by Helen Ward and The Great Kapoc Tree by Lynne Cherry. Our classroom will have lots of opportunities for researching woodlands and rainforests and the animals who live there and the children will be able to act out Percy the Park Keeper stories in our role play area.
Our topic will include work in geography, science, design technology, art and music and where possible we will go on topic linked trips or have topic related visitors in school.
Children will be exploring and researching to answer key questions:
Where in the world are tropical rainforests?
What is it like to live in a rainforest?
Can we help to save the rainforests?
Keep an eye on our class webpage to see photographs of our work.
