Martin Mere: Discovering life in Viking times

Following the SATs tests, Year 5 & 6 headed out to discover what life really was like for Viking people. Martin Mere is situated on wetland which was very useful for the Vikings because they were able to use it to build houses, baskets and other items useful for trading. Our group completed four tasks, foraging for food in the woods, weaving to build a pig pen, thatching to build roofs for houses and learning how to fight like a Viking!
