Parents – are you in the dark about maths?

Do you know what chunking is?  How do numberlines work? What is the grid method for multiplication? 

New to our website – we have now provided copies of the John Cross Progression through Calculations guidelines for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  These guidelines give an outline of how the teaching of each of the four ‘operations’ progresses through the school eg how subtraction is taught from Reception to Year 6.  These documents will help you to help your child with their maths, by using the methods taught at our school.  If you need any further guidance or clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Reynolds or Mrs Bryson.
