Thank you to Myerscough College and their arboriculturalist students who, along with our Y5 and 6 pupils, helped do a litter pick in Bilsborrow this afternoon.  The children enjoyed the activity and Bilsborrow is now even cleaner than before!  It is great to be part of such a close knit community.

Welcome back!  We hope you have all had a fantastic summer break, and are energised and ready for the new school year.  Welcome to the new Reception children, as well as the two new junior boys who have joined John Cross.  We hope you all settle in well and enjoy the friendly school that John Cross is.

Other new changes from September include Cock Robin nursery now being a part of John Cross school  - we welcome Jill and the other staff along with the pre-school children.  Over the summer holidays, the room has been refurbished and improved to provide a super learning environment for the younger children.

To celebrate this, Cock Robin will be having an open day on Saturday 16th September, 10am-2pm, all welcome, with refreshments being provided. Parents will have the opportunity to look around the pre-school as well as the main school and talk to our staff.

The juniors spent the day with a Stone Age man, who came to John Cross to show the juniors various things, including clothing, tools and weapons, along with how to make sap lamps and flint arrow heads!  This was to support their topic work, which is 'Stone Age to the Iron Age'.

The children (and staff) all had a fantastic day - see our gallery page for more pictures!

Welcome back to the 2nd half of the summer term.  Well done to all of our Y2 and Y6 children who took their SATs assessments before the holidays, we were all extremely proud of how hard the children have worked and persevered.  We hope the half-term break has allowed some relaxation and family time in the sun.

This half-term we look forward to sports day, sporting competitions, the junior production as well as the visit of a real life caveman to John Cross to work with the juniors!

They took part in a day of activities such as climbing, caving, mountain biking, archery, orienteering as well as the zip wire!  Well done to all of the children who behaved extremely well and were a credit to the school.
